Maryorie - Venezuela
United in the Fight for Freedom
My name is Maryorie. I’m 37 years old and I’m the mom of two girls. I work cleaning houses even though my dream was to go to school. As a girl I played base in the youth symphony orchestras system in Venezuela and I dreamt of going to college.
I now work and fight for the freedom of my country so my girls can exercise their rights to life, health and education, without separation of age, color, class, religion or political affiliation because it’ll be an egalitarian society, led by the fight for freedom and democracy, and where discrimination is never allowed. Where my flag is my smile, because I make each battle be my purpose in life, seeding in my daughters the values that despite circumstances, it’s women who fight for a better society.
We have been under a dictatorship in Venezuela since 1998. There have been no true, free presidential elections in all these years. I send my picture so that my daughters and girls around the world know that we are united in the fight for freedom, for our votes and the individual expression of our dreams.
